Children form an integral part of every parent's life. Starting from infancy to adolescence to young adulthood, the children need special care as they are much more vulnerable to diseases than adults.

Every parent should be well aware of the symptoms and its consequences. The healthy growth of the children and their well being are largely in the hands of the parents. Some tips to make their more comfortable and healthy are the following ones:
  • Choose cotton cloths for babies to keep away from skin allergies.
  • When you buy anything for your child, read all manufacturer’s directions and safety precautions carefully so that the product is not wrongly used.
  • Never leave a young child along with your baby all alone; he might pick him up and drop him or provide him with dangerous objects to play.
  • Always keep a supply of first aid equipment in your house for emergency situations. The baby must be kept warm and dry so that he does not experience heat loss.
  • Oil should not be put in the child’s ears or nose. It can cause serious damage and infection. Strong aromatic soaps and cosmetics should be avoided. Mild soaps should be used. Strong skin care products may lead to skin allergies and rashes.
  • Never leave the baby alone in the bath even for a second. No home remedies should be applied on the baby even for minor problems. Consult your doctor as soon as you feel something is going wrong.
  • Mother should eat a well balanced diet which is important while breast feeding. Breast milk alone should be given to the baby up to at least 4 months. Even in very hot climate there is no need to give extra water, but the breast milk is enough. If the baby is bottle fed, never leave the baby alone with her bottle, which can result to choking.
  • Babies can become seriously ill due to any infections. So it is better not to take any chances; as illness at this age requires immediate attention.
